A
sturdy dog run fence is the absolute backbone of what a good dog run
should be. Whatever it is that has to be done to ensure that the fence
is solidly built and strong enough to hold up is worth it.
To guarantee that the fence is not going to move or even fall over
as it is being bumped, jumped on or even blown over by a strong wind,
you can still have the barrier connected to the ground or another
kind of solid structure, such as something like an existing fence
or a building wall.
A concern that some dog owners have is that they are afraid that
the dogs may try to climb and jump over the fence. To protect your
dog from himself and ensure that he doesn’t do this, you can
make sure that the run you get has a well-built perimeter fencing
system that is made to be high enough to discourage your dog from
even taking a try at getting over it.
For all of those dogs who simply can't be frightened by the height
of the fence, you can also put up some kind of a cover over the run
and then thereby limit the possibility of your dog jumping or even
climbing over the fence. It is always important to keep the run locked.
If, per chance, you can put a chain around the gate in order to help
stop potential thieves from stealing you dog, this would also be a
good idea.
Lastly, you should remember to keep in mind that leaving your dog
or dogs alone for long periods of time is not a positive thing for
your dog. Doing this excessively can have a very negative impact on
your dog's behavior.
It is obvious that there will be some stretches of time when your
dog will be alone, but this should be the exception and not the rule.
You should always remember that your dog needs you and it needs to
know that you care for it and love it and consider it part of your
family.
